Officers responded to Poughkeepsie Middle School around 2:52 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, on a report of a "large fight," said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
During the disturbance, a member of the school’s security team was assaulted, Clark said.
Clark did not provide additional information regarding the "fight," but did say the matter was under investigation.
Poughkeepsie City School District Superintendent Eric Rosser said the district is working with law enforcement to investigate "this isolated" incident that took place during dismissal on the outdoor grounds.
"No injuries requiring emergency medical services have been reported, Rosser said. "The security monitor suffered some abrasions. After the incident, which involved a number of assailants and a security monitor, dismissal proceeded as normal."
Rosser said once the facts are obtained, if it is determined that those involved are students of the Poughkeepsie City School District, appropriate action will be taken.
